Vitina
Vytina is a mountain village in the Peloponnese, in the Arcadia region. Located at an altitude of 1,033 meters on Mount Mainalo, it is in a lush area dominated by pine, fir, and chestnut trees. It is one of the most notable mountain resorts in the Peloponnese and Greece in general. According to the 2021 census, it has 552 permanent residents and has been designated as a traditional settlement.
Significant attractions in Vytina include the Church of Saint Tryphon, which dominates the town square and was built in 1846 using black marble from the surrounding area, two traditional wooden ovens located near the main square, and the Folklore Museum. Also worth visiting is the impressive library, which holds documents and books from the 17th century. Another noteworthy site is the Vytina Primary School, which is a donation from Andreas Syngros. What gives the town its special beauty is the tree-covered “Lover’s Path” that starts almost from the square and ends at the national road connecting Tripoli to Vytina. This path has been known by this name for a long time, as it used to be a popular walking and meeting place for the youth of that time. The main products of the area are pine tree honey and livestock products such as meat, cheese, and more.
